This self-paced eLearning module helps career coaches support newly arrived immigrants in understanding common American workplace phrases such as "circle back," "touch base," and "loop in." The project demonstrates the application of adult-learning principles including explicit instruction, chunking, gradual release of responsibility, and context-driven examples.
I conducted an informal needs analysis focused on linguistic and cultural onboarding challenges for internationally trained professionals. Many clients struggled with idiomatic business English, creating barriers to communication and confidence. This analysis surfaced a key learning need: coaches require a repeatable strategy for teaching workplace language without overwhelming learners.
The module was designed using a gradual release model ("I Do → We Do → You Do"), with explicit instruction, micro-chunking, and progressive fading of support.
I storyboarded the full experience to intentionally manage cognitive load and align instruction with learner independence.
The experience was built in Articulate Storyline using ElevenLabs narration, Envato visuals, and custom interactive slides. ChatGPT supported ideation and drafting of workplace scenarios and example phrasing, which were refined for authenticity. A final QA pass ensured consistency, pacing, and smooth interaction.
The final module is a clean, well-structured eLearning experience that equips coaches with a repeatable, evidence-based strategy for teaching workplace language. As a portfolio piece, it demonstrates the translation of adult learning theory into a practical, culturally responsive instructional solution.
